editThe usual sources seem to have the eldest son, incorrectly but hardly unusually, using 'Viscount Trafalgar' throughout the C19 but switching to Viscount Merton in the C20 sometime. As we usual mention the heirs title perhaps we need to clarify this before adding. Alci12 16:16, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- The 4th and 5th Earls had an elder brother, Herbert Horatio, Viscount Trafalgar, who died before his father, the 3rd Earl — is it possible the future 4th Earl switched to "Viscount Merton" on his death to avoid using the same title as his late brother? (I don't have any information on what courtesy titles the heirs who actually succeeded used, so this is a complete guess.) Proteus (Talk) 09:43, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

editSorry for removing, but this is misleading: someone can believe that 'Baron Nelson of the Nile and of Burnham Thorpe' and 'Baron Nelson of the Nile and of Hillborough' are the full tiles. I think the addon 'first' and 'second creation' is enough (it is also consistent to other articles); and the territorial designation is explained in the text. Phoe 11:11, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
