Departure from Cleveland
editThe year specified here and elsewhere is 1963, yet I personally know Earl Sutherland to have still been head of the pharmacology department at Western Reserve University in 1964. (Though this Wikipedia article refers to Case Western Reserve University, Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University had not yet merged. When a committee met to consider the name of the combined entity, one professor on the committee, Dr. Merton F. Utter, facetiously suggested The Strange Case of Western Reserve University. The Wikipedia article on the university gives 1967 as the year of the merger.) Lacking a published source to support the information about the incorrect 1963 date for Sutherland's departure, I have not attempted to edit the text. Maybe someone else has such a source?
