editInteresting enough, I don't a family tree. My friends are often mixed up about the Earls/Dukes of Northumberland, and a family tree might clear some things up. Any takers?

I'm pretty sure that I have the necessary information, but it's not really in graphical form... Ardric47 23:51, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Between Robert de Mowbray and the Percys, there were three men called "Earl of Northumbria" or "Earl of Northumberland": Henry of Scotland, 3rd Earl of Huntingdon, King William I of Scotland, and Hugh de Puiset. Do they belong here or with Earl of Northumberland? Ardric47 00:17, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
- These people are at "Earl of Northumbria"; and the two appellations are different entities. Swanny18 (talk) 09:34, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
When there is a new creation of an earldom, we number from that creation. Thus, Henry Percy, listed as 2nd Earl of Northumberland, is actually Henry Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland (of the second creation). And subsequent earls are numbered accordingly, until there is a new creation. (Cf. the current Duke of Edinburgh, called the 1st Duke of Edinburgh, though the title has been carried by others in the past.) ScottyFLL 13:47, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- So how do you distinguish between forfeit and recreation for the heir, and forfeit and restoration to the heir? How do you know? --Rumping 10:46, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Lord Percy Percy
editI suppose some reference to the Blackadder character Lord Percy Percy would be out of the question? I mean, I was actually surprised not to see one on this page... or the Duke of Northumberland one for that matter Sk8a H8a 08:11, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Question
editDid anyone hold the title Earl of Northumberland from 1405-1416? LoreTj 16:21, 30 October 2007 (UTC) nO. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 11:28, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

editAlgernon Percy, the 10th Earl, did NOT fight for the king in the Civil Wars. He was actually one of the highest ranking nobles to turn and fight for parliament. The reference needs to be changed. Brakbudy (talk) 00:51, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Layout
editI've changed the layout a bit. The history I've made more like the other "Earl" pages, the list of titleholders to improve the look. Hope that's OK Swanny18 (talk) 13:31, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
