Wrong King?
editThis passage is incorrect: "The title was later granted by William the Lion to Floris III of Holland in 1161 upon Floris's marriage to William's sister Ada of Huntingdon."
The King of Scotland at the time of Floris' marriage to Ada would have been William's elder brother, Malcolm IV; William the Lion did not succeed until Malcolm's death in the December of 1165. Therefore, either the title was granted to Floris in 1161 by Malcolm, or it was granted by William at a later date than listed in the article. 78.147.194.239 (talk) 23:04, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Origins and Transfers
editThe text has conflated two Malcolms. Malcolm mac Eth was Mormaer of Ross. He was the son of Mormaer of Moray Aethelred mac Malcolm III. The Malcolm imprisoned in Roxburgh was the illegitimate son of Alexander I - as the relevant Wikipedia page makes plain.
Unless someone else intervenes pdq I will amend the text accordingly. Freuchie (talk) 16:46, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
