Suggested move
editThinking to move this to Early entrance to college, with consequent redefinition to incorporate some treatment of ad hoc academic acceleration into college, supplementing the current focus on cohort acceleration programs. I'm inclined to think that one reason for the recurrent addition of dual enrollment/early college programs here is the tendency to read the title as "Early college programs" rather than "Early entrance programs".
Rationale for not just merging the articles: Dual enrollment, advanced placement, and other such forms of academic enrichment exemplify a basically different approach to the same problem (viz. the sclerotic, intellectually toxic nature of traditional secondary education), which means, from the encyclopedia perspective, that there are different things we can say about the history, political response, outcomes research, etc., of dual enrollment and early entrance. -- Visviva (talk) 20:58, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- I am also a bit confused as to the scope of this article. There is another on the same topic. Early college programs LeonhardEuler27 (talk) 17:51, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- It should also be noted that college and University have different meanings in different countries. For example in the United States, college seems to mean what other countries call university and community college is what other countries might call college.
