Shock absorbing frame
editPerhaps the shock absorbing frame built by Stanford + Illinois University may be mentioned; see http://news.stanford.edu/news/2009/august31/quake-shaking-design-090109.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.245.91.8 (talk) 15:10, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
There's a pointless sentence in the article that I cannot delete: "Also the bigger your housethe worst it is." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.203.48.163 (talk) 21:48, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Tuned Mass Damper
editThe main tuned mass damper in Taipei 101 is designed for comfort under wind loads. There are also two additional tuned mass dampers in the pinnacle to reduce fatigue loading. None are specifically designed to reduce earthquake loads. In event of an earthquake the pinnacle TMDs will be locked down, while the main mass is designed to be restrained by a snubber ring. See this article by the designers. Muchado (talk) 03:09, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Bill Robinson
editBill Robinson, the inventor of Lead rubber bearing, passed away recently [1]. I was surprised to see that he does not have a wikipedia page. He seems to fit the wikipedia notability criteria [2]. If there is no oposition, I will create a page in a few days. Marcrr (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:01, 4 September 2011 (UTC).
- Go for it. With a Rutherford Medal, he's clearly notable. --Avenue (talk) 17:01, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have created a draft page User:Marcrr/William Robinson (scientist). Feedback welcome. Marcrr (talk) 21:11, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Incorrect Hyperlink in "Seismic Vibration Control"
editUnder "Seismic Vibration Control" there is an unusual hyperlink in the second point describing the 3 methods of handling seismic waves. "- to disperse the wave energy between a wider range of frequencies;" Disperse is hyperlinked to another Wikipedia page discussing the South Indian Christian Rock-band "Disperse." I'd recommend either deleting that or linking it to the correct page. Thank you. 24.146.20.130 (talk) 04:30, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
