NPOV
edit- "...the company inherited the socially committed spirit..."
"...broke new ground..." Probably should have someone familiar with E15 look over this for NPOV. I am an ardent admirer of the school and its ideas, but I don't think I have the ability to make this NPOV properly.
Neutral language problems
editSome of the language seems subjective to me, and reads more like an advertisement:
The school continues to ... recruit students from a wide variety of social and ethnic backgrounds - making it one of the most diverse drama schools in the UK.
East 15 has produced many fine actors, directors, teachers and designers, taking on leading roles in British and international theatre, heading and creating theatre companies throughout the world. ... Groundbreaking companies like Orchard Theatre, Bruvvers, ... and The Half Moon have been created by East 15 graduates.
I'm not sure if this warrants a warning template or not. Hertzsprung 00:13, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Photograph
editThe photo of the mansion Hatfields, which is the core part of the school campus, has been taken by me, and I uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons. I think it looks quite good! Lradrama 20:32, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Category:East 15 Acting School Alumni
editWhat do people think of creating a category for East 15 alumni? The Guildhall School of Music and Drama is an example of a British Drama School which has one of these, how about East 15? Continuity? 86.154.115.231 (talk) 23:04, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Damon Albarn
editHe keeps on getting inserted into the alumni section, and then getting removed. He left after the first year (it is stated in his own article). Therefore are we agreed that he should not be labelled as alumni of E15? Orphan Wiki 00:58, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- The first line of the Alumni article; An alumnus (pl. alumni), according to the American Heritage Dictionary, is "a graduate of a school, college, or university. Therefore, as Albarn did NOT graduate, he shouldn't be classed as an alumni? Orphan Wiki 14:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Just to say, Orphan is of course right and why someone (I assume it's the same person) is so determined to include Damon Albarn in the list on graduates when he wasn't one is quite beyond me. Ewen B Maclachlan (talk) 12:22, 5 June 2011 (UTC) Ewen B MaclachlanEwen B Maclachlan
Let me throw some light on this, three different examples (below) of the meaning of the word alumnus as defined by various dictionaries, all agree that it is a former student, not necessarily a graduate.
- Oxford - A former pupil or student, especially a male one, of a particular school, college, or university.
- Colins English Dictionary - The alumni of a school, college, or university are the people who used to be students there.
- The Free Dictionary - A male graduate or former student of a school, college, or university.
Therefore my conclusion is that Damon Albarn should be on the Alumni list because he is a former student. James Kevin McMahon (talk) 11:02, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
