Annals of Ulster
editThere was a claim on here that the Annals mention Herring fishing at East Tarbert in 836AD - I'm finding that claim dubious and have removed it. The only sources that have it are the vague origin web sites such as the unreliable undiscoveredscotland.co.uk and the written tourist guide Rough Guide to Scotland. Checking the Annals themselves they mention Tarbert (then Tairpert) in 712AD and again in 731AD and both are burnings of Tarbert Castle not fishing. But I don't see anything in 836, If a scholarly source can be found that supports this then I'm happy for it to be re-inserted without the undiscoveredscotland source.
