East Yorkshire or Yorkshire East?
editIs there a definitive reference for this renaming? Several external official-ish sites use the former name, which is apparently outdated? e.g.
- Sitting MP's biography page on parliament.uk: https://www.parliament.uk/biographies/commons/sir-greg-knight/1200
- House of Commons Library Constituency dashboard: https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/local-data/constituency-dashboard/ - apologies for not being able to provide a link to the specific constituency
- Electoral Commission: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/our-work/our-research/electoral-data/2017-uk-general-election-results ; specific data hosted on Tableau: https://public.tableau.com/shared/QMSFP8RY5?:display_count=yes&:showVizHome=no
- Recent articles from the Hull Daily Mail: https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/how-mps-vote-theresa-mays-2321402 - "Another to back the PM is Sir Greg Knight, MP for East Yorkshire, ..."
- TheyWorkForYou: https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/11026/greg_knight/east_yorkshire
- The sitting MP's own site: http://gregknight.com/ - "Member of Parliament for East Yorkshire"
The only place I've so far found using "Yorkshire East" is the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/constituencies/E14000683
This wiki page itself still has at least 3 non-historical references to "East Yorkshire" (intro paragraph, two in the infobox), which should really be changed if this indeed an outdated name.
NB: I'm definitely not knowledgeable enough to claim that everyone else is right and this Wiki page is wrong - I can easily imagine confusion arising from systems/data not getting updated, people having the old name ingrained, etc - but given how widely the apparently-wrong name is in use, perhaps this Wiki page should be more explicit about things? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ErsatzCulture (talk • contribs) 18:01, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
