Talk:Eastern Province, Sri Lanka

Latest comment: 7 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

I think capital of the Eastern province is Trincomalee.

The Capital of Eastern Province is Trincomalee. It is in Trincomalee the Governor and the Provincial Ministries are located. The De linked Northern Provincial Council is planned to be shifted to Vavniaya.

The Batticaloa page states that Batticaloa is the capital of the Eastern province, whilst the Trincomalee page says nothing about it being the capitol. Is the information correct? Sendu (talk) 14:38, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Northern history?

edit

what does the Jaffna kingdom and the history of the North got to do with the Eastern province??? I am removing those irrelevant passages which were ripped straight from the SLT page Nagadeepa (talk) 11:34, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

hi friend. I want to clarify few things. North and east were united into a same region on several times. very example is tat when Kalinga magha arrived to lanka, he captured east and then shifted to north , also Jaffna kings ruled eastern part of the island for long time, after that eastern part came into a feudal territory of kandyan kingdom. i welcome any changes which shows the real history of east . i have created the section history of eastern province, pls add more information in it, which were not part of northern history. thank you .--BlueLankan 17:02, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

TMVP actions

edit

TMVP actions are outdated (from 2007) and should be in Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal or they should be changed from Presnt tense to Past tense .It is not suitable to keep them here in 2014 where they disbanded its military wing and surrendered arms to the Government. UMDP (talk) 09:11, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

This is not a propaganda vehicle for the Sri Lankan government, it is an encyclopaedia and as such we include all historic information that can be sourced reliably. The TMVP were a menacing presence in the province for many years, terrorising the local population on behalf of the government. Change to past tense by all means but do not remove it.--obi2canibetalk contr 20:13, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

sorry if I caused any Misunderstanding the page is extremely outdated and also lacks some newer pictures. The Economy of the eastern province is absent despite the large numbers of Agricultural and Fishing areas and Ports being present in the Area as well as the rising tourism industry. Economy of eastern Province

edit

I noticed the lack of an economy section about the Eastern province. May I add a Economy Section Similar to the one in the Northern Province? The sources I found so far are This and most specially this UMDP (talk) 16:21, 31 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Go ahead, but make sure all information that is added is properly sourced and neutral.--Blackknight12 (talk) 05:06, 1 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
