Redirect to Cunnilingus

edit

Honestly, is there any justification for "eating pussy" being redirected to "Cat meat"? I think it's pretty clear which one is the more common usage of the term, though naturally I will bow to references to the contrary. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 18:02, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree, totally. Per principle of least astonishment, and WP:NOTCENSORED. I am changing it back now, and if folks disagree, lets discuss it here. Chzz  ►  18:31, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Eat pussy" is also the name of several songs on several different rap albums.. not surprisingly. -- œ 12:18, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

All of these references are referring to the sexual act though; so I propose we move this disambiguation page to Eating pussy (disambiguation) and redirect Eating pussy to Cunnilingus, with a hatnote regarding the disambig page. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 12:24, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but that is going to run into revert wars which is what I have sought to avoid by making it a dmb. If you want to add other songs please do but I think this should stay as a dmb page for the time being and we'll see how it goes. As, BTW, all the references refer to the sexual act because you removed the 'cat meat' mention! Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:38, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
For good reason, as I explained in the edit summary. And why should we leave something as it is if it's inadequate, simply because a change might be controversial? That's what discussion is for. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 14:45, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
"Cat meat" ... LOL! Enough already! I'm still not done laughing at "Fuck a duck" → Avisodomy and how THAT one managed to slip past the diligent minds of RfD. -- œ 14:46, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Wait what? Seriously, RfD decided that "Fuck a duck" is a plausible redirect? I'm mystified. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 15:03, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Move disambiguation to 'Eating pussy (disambiguation)' and leave redirect here to 'Cunnilingus'

No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:11, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Eating pussyEating pussy (disambiguation) — Making a formal proposition of what I mentioned above; move this disambiguation page to Eating pussy (disambiguation) and redirect Eating pussy to Cunnilingus, with a hatnote at the top of Cunnilingus pointing to the disambiguation page. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 14:47, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

The only problem I have with this is the hatnote. We really ought to avoid having this sort of silly hatnote at the top of what's supposed to be a serious article. It makes Wikipedia look chilidish, we should be giving the impression of maturity in articles dealing with this kind of subject matter. -- œ 14:53, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm not really sure why you consider it a silly hatnote, it's quite a common slang term for cunnilingus. Of course the other thing to consider is whether or not "Eating pussy" is really a plausible redirect for every song or book which happens to have it in its title, and thus if it's even worthy of a disambig. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 15:04, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - I also oppose the hatnote and without the hatnote the redirect and move doesn't work, otherwise Eating pussy (disambiguation) would be orphaned. As stated above the dmb page should be given time to settle down Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:59, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Support, per my comment at the RfD. The song and album entries are spurious and do not require disambiguation, per WP:DAB#Partial title matches: "A disambiguation page is not a search index. Do not add a link that merely contains part of the page title, or a link that includes the page title in a longer proper name, where there is no significant risk of confusion. . . . Add a link only if the article's subject (or the relevant subtopic thereof) could plausibly be referred to by essentially the same name as the disambiguated term in a sufficiently generic context." Frankly, the disambiguation page and hatnote aren't particularly necessary at all.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 17:41, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't miss it if it's decided to remove the disambig page; I definitely think Eating pussy should just be a redirect to Cunnilingus, in any case. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 18:47, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per my argument at the RfD one should not expect an adult to actually know the formal term for the sexual practice. Often enough, adults are ignorants who know little vocabulary. That is the meaning of the term, and it lets an adult who doesn't know the correct term, or how to spell the correct term, access to the correct article, which is what a redirect is supposed to do. As many studies have shown, many adults cannot read at a high school level. 76.66.192.55 (talk) 21:58, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Better, as suggested, to scrap the disambiguation page completely (it serves no useful purpose) and redirect Eating pussy to Cunnilingus, as is already the case with Muff diving and Carpet munching. Skinsmoke (talk) 22:08, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • I think we should move this page to 'Eat Pussy', as that is what is being disambiguated, and redirect 'eating pussy' to 'cunnilingus'. John Vandenberg (chat) 02:24, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - Dab page now usefull, hatnote would be inappropriate. However, if you decide to move it, I would be glad to include the hatnote on my list of funniest hat texts. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 03:13, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Is there actually a policy-based reason why the hatnote would be inappropriate? GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 05:38, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Opppose, as I agree with John Vandenberg that this page should be at Eat Pussy and Eating pussy should be a simple redirect with no hatnote needed. Powers T 13:26, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose I think the disambig is OK, personally. It is, at least, serving some purpose. Somebody could well be looking for a song, putting that in - really; if you heard a song that featured that saying, you might well search it. Imagine you half-remembered Eat Pussy, a song on the album Anakonda, by the rapper Akinyele - you might put in "Eating pussy" in Wikipedia. If you're ONLY taken to Cunnilingus, with no hatnote, you'd be lost. Now, the opposite, if you are searching for it for...well, kiddies...then there is no harm at all, and quite a benefit, in them hitting the DAB before the cunni. article. IMHO. Chzz  ►  18:02, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • I support John's stance on eating pussy—Move this and redirect the resultant redirect to cunnilingus. When Gropecunt Lane was main-paged, I suggested it was time to get cunnilingus up to FA status so that it had a shot at the main page; seem to have not happened. Those in need of practice at both the primary meaning and the more literal meaning, should book a nice leisurely trip to Ubud; the local girls are friendly, and there are just tons of eager tourist girls. The "love" part of Eat, Pray, Love is set in this town, and many readers interested in some of that for themselves make the trip. With the film in production (Julia as the lead), there will only be more. I did not partake in the literal meaning: if this part does not interest you, avoid the sate sold at curbside. They use arsenic to poison feral cats and use it as tourist food. I'm not kidding. Cheers, Jack Merridew 04:28, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Moved

edit

There seemed to be a rough consensus to move this page to Eat Pussy and retarget the resulting redirect to Cunnilingus. I have done so. Powers T 11:27, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
