Removing Hot Stuff and moving to Eddie Gilbert (Wrestler). Looks more uniform to other wrestler articles. --Endless Dan 12:46, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why not just move to Eddie Gilbert, is there any need for the parentheses? If not then I would Support a move to Eddie Gilbert. Darrenhusted (talk) 14:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Because of another notable Eddie Gilbert. Eddie Gilbert is used a disambig page. --Endless Dan 14:08, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well then I move my support to Eddie Gilbert (Wrestler). Darrenhusted (talk) 14:11, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just a note: If it gets changed, it should be to "Eddie Gilbert (wrestler)" without a cap W. Nikki311 03:04, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

WWF Run

edit

Eddie Gilbert had a couple of runs with the WWF and its not mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.119.82 (talk) 01:37, 23 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Manager

edit

Since the list of wrestlers managed by managers and the list of wrestlers managed by other wrestlers seems to be subjective on this site (meaning there seems to be no set criteria), I've added Terry Taylor to the list of wrestlers managed by Eddie Gilbert. Also not too mention, Eddie Gilbert is listed as a manager on Terry Taylor's Wikipedia page so it just makes it more uniform adding him to Gilbert's page.98.21.193.12 (talk) 04:22, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Eddie Gilbert (wrestler)Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert – As with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Superstar Billy Graham, Gilbert's nickname was used ubiquitously enough that it is reasonable for it to be part of the page title. A Google News Archive search returns 1 hit for "Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert" and 0 hits for "Eddie Gilbert (wrestler). McPhail (talk) 16:16, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Support as nominator. McPhail (talk) 16:16, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Stone Cold and Graham... bad ideas. Now, two precedents and every wrestler with (wrestler), is gonna to change to the nickname. (wrestler) is enough to difference it from other articles. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:37, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Gilbert's a big name in wrestling circles (as is his nickname), but unlike Stone Cold and Superstar, never really went mainstream. Just making it wordier this way. Now that "Steve Austin" redirects to Stone Cold instead of a disambiguation page, even he should lose all qualifiers. Pointless now. Billy Graham is still more famous than our Superstar, though, and a very common name like his works better than "(wrestler)". InedibleHulk (talk) 21:51, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Also, the Google News Archive doesn't archive stuff anymore (still some old papers here), so that test is also more pointless than it was. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:54, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose not that notable to have his own natural dab. (re the other I see mention of RFD, suppose all of Steve Austin (disambiguation) put together aren't as notable as THE Steve Austin? Oh well.) In ictu oculi (talk) 22:03, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose It would be tantamount to gaming the system to base this on "Eddie Gilbert (wrestler)" not appearing in a Google search, as that form of naming is pretty specific to Wikipedia's way of doing things. Gilbert may have enjoyed the greatest share of his exposure appearing in a particular promotion which emphasized use of the nickname, but it doesn't exactly predominate the way it does for Austin or Graham. For instance, he was simply Eddie Gilbert in the WWF, at a time when they did have slightly more than local/regional exposure. Probably the biggest match of his early career was the match against Sayama at the Philadelphia Spectrum, which was likely viewed by far more people than any of his UWF matches due to being televised by Asahi TV. And (partially) still on WWE.com. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:42, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I agree with the suggestion that Google not having results using Eddie Gilbert (wrestler) is not a good reason to avoid using it as a title any more than the fact that there a few if any hits for Bigfoot (truck) means that we should not use that title for the monster truck.--67.70.140.89 (talk) 00:40, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
