Article name and textual consisteny

edit

Why is the article redirected to Edmund FitzGibbon, when the text consistensy uses the spelling Fitzgibbon? One would have expected the person making the redirect to have made the necessary changes in the text. 84.23.155.84 (talk) 20:31, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the following statement from the article's Lead section: " and struggled to maintain his loyalty to the crown during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England. He is the father of the famous Steve FitzGibbon and grandfather of Lachlan FitzGibbon currently of the Newcastle Knights in the NRL." The statement regarding loyalty to Elizabeth I is uncited and unclear. I may add a replacement statement with reference later on. The statement regarding "Steve Fitzgibbon" is a bit silly, as it's totally unclear who this Steven is. The statement regarding Lachlan Fitzgibbon is obviously false, considering Edmund Fitzgibbon died in 1608, is it extremely unlikely he is the grandfather of an active rugby player. I have also changed Anglo-Irish to Hiberno-Norman as it is much more accurate. The former is inaccurate. The latter article expressly names the FitzGeralds (who the Fitzgibbons descend from) as a "prominent" Norman family. Justinstuartlyon (talk) 23:13, 28 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have added a statement to replace "and struggled to maintain his loyalty to the crown during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England.". I think that "His loyalty to Elizabeth I resulted in the capture of his kinsman the last Earl of Desmond and the end of the Second Desmond Rebellion." is more accurate.
