This article is in good shape. I have a few comments/queries:

  • worth mentioning that the expedition was to East Asia
    • Good idea
  • there is a * in the battles section of the infobox, I suggest using {{tree list}} to branch it properly
    • Ah, I hadn't noticed that
  • how did he become von? It isn't clear from his fairly inauspicious family
    • He must have been ennobled at some point, but neither the ADB or NDB mention when. I'd assume in the 1860s, perhaps after Jasmund, but nothing I've seen mentions it.
  • London, Genoa, Algiers, Madiera, and Portsmouth, a few links might be worth adding here, not the well known ones, but perhaps Genoa and Madiera at least
    • Linked all but London
  • link XO
    • Done
  • "On their arrival, Jachmann" should this be on their return?
    • Yup
  • there is a bit of mixing of rank presentation, second and first lieutenant and rear admiral, but the rest in German. Suggest making them all in German. I assume the navy used army ranks until a certain point?
    • I'm not sure exactly what the lieutenant ranks would be - Oberleutnant zur See would be the equivalent of 1st Lieutenant, but the rank was introduced in 1890. According to that article, the previous rank was "Premier Lieutenant", but that obviously isn't German (and the 2nd Lieutenant equivalent was Sekonde Lieutenant, which is Gerglish). The de.wiki articles say the old ranks were Unterleutnant zur See and Leutnant zur See, but none of the articles have any sources, so who knows.
  • "to recapture the vessels"?
    • Good catch
  • worth mentioning that Eulenburg was a diplomat
    • Good idea
  • "a severe storm had badly damaged"? and "Indeed, Jachmann had to put into" to place these incidents firmly in the past by this time.
    • Fixed
  • squadron chief is a bit unusual, squadron commander?
    • Works for me
  • appointed rear admiral see my earlier comment about ranks
    • That one I can fix
  • traditional guns? did these fire round shot? was there something that would have been effective?
    • I'd guess they were shell guns, since they had been around for some time by then, but nothing I've seen says one way or the other. Either way, the guns themselves were muzzle-loaders
  • "he sent the gunboat Tiger"
    • Good catch
  • "and the fleet"
    • Good idea
  • it isn't clear why he wasn't appointed Chief of the Imperial Admiralty. Was it because he hadn't been an effective administrator, or something else?
    • That, and Wilhelm wasn't really happy with how the fleet had performed in the war
  • "...thereafter left the service. Stosch thereafter" is a bit repetitive, perhaps "then"
    • Good idea
  • "published and article"
    • Good catch
  • what was Deutsche Revue? a naval journal?
    • As far as I an tell, it was more of a general periodical (if you look where it's cited on Wikipedia, you'll see article titles like "Naturwissenschaft und Religion" and "Das Königshaus von Adiabene" - not exactly naval or even military topics). It was probably something like Collier's.
  • "was appointed part of the court martial" a member?
    • Works for me
  • protégé? Perhaps link Mentorship?
    • Sure
  • do we know the outcome of the second CM?
    • Yeah, though there were a 3rd and 4th CM as well - didn't think it was worth going down that rabbit hole
  • File:SMS AMAZONE.jpg needs work, it uses {{PD-old-70-1923}} but there is no author information, a different license is required
  • the other images are okazay.

That's me done, placing on hold for the above to be addressed. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 08:45, 26 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
