One should note that Eduardo Chibas was not quite the knight in shining armor some make him out to be, matter of fact in demagoguery he had few equals. For instance he started a fist fight in the Cuban senate, accusing his opponent of corruption, he provoked and then engaged in numerous duels to "first blood" in which he usually fared badly. His suicide that he staged as public spectacle can be readily attributed to the embarrassment caused by the failure of his charges against an honest public official. All this is readily verifiable by a perusal of the US papers of the time. El Jigue208.65.188.14915:50, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Chibas is mentioned in all textbooks on Cuban history used in Cuba.
He is given as an example of incorruptible character.
The Cuban Robespierre, although the Revolution didn't kill him, he killed himself.
