why is the spouse changed to his father? Is this an allusion to the verse you will be married to the one who made you? Just curious -mg

Manalo helped found AsCII?

edit

He contributed to the founding of an organization within the INC called The Association of Christians in Information Technology(AsCII), an organization consisting of INC members in the Information Technology field who perform computer-related assistance to the church.

Anybody have a source to who actually founded the organization, and how INC is involved? I checked the latest version of the site, and I couldn't find anything about how it started. Although the layout is new, and some of the content still says coming soon. I'll be checking on it from time to time. --LBMixPro<Speak|on|it!> 00:42, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I was able to find something which states that INC leaders were involved in it. --LBMixPro<Speak|on|it!> 09:44, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

POV Violations

edit

I'm not sure who wrote it first here, but I think the following are POV violations: 1. One supposedly a "member" saying they were "encouraged" to join the rally 2. A person saying he is a member is too dubious (or obviously) quoted to discredit the article 3. The quotes relate more to the Iglesia ni Cristo article rather than this (Eduardo Manalo) article

Forgive me if I'm being such a newbie here, but I think somebody here has an agenda against the Iglesia ni Cristo.

Thank you for bringing up the issue, those are valid points. The CNN article states that the person is a member of INC. It would be a different story if the source wrote "A person claiming to be an INC member", but it doesn't and stating otherwise on this article is speculation. I've always thought of that section to be more for the polictics section of the INC article. The only way its relevant here is Manalo's alleged involvement. But the way that paragraph is written makes the whole section sloppy. It presents a "on one hand it's this, and they say it's this, but on the other hand..." form of writing, which may become confusing or distracting from the main point. It should be cleaned up a bit --LBMixPro <Speak|on|it!> 07:05, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Dear Sir, I have good reason to believe that you are a sockpuppet of User:Emico, who has been prohibited from editing this or any other Iglesia ni Cristo related article.--Ironbrew 05:31, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't know what "reason" you have to believe that, but you have no right to vandalize my user page, or everybody else's, just because you feel like doing so. RasterBlaster 20:22, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Bye, Emico--Ironbrew 05:24, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
You have been warned. RasterBlaster (talk) 19:45, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
What are you going to do about it? You're not fooling anyone.--Ironbrew (talk) 22:57, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lead section

edit

Just a short note regarding my recent edit to the lead sentences. To make it more consistent, I've decided to edit it such that:

  1. the first sentence contains information about Eduardo Manalo's current position alone, without referring to him assuming the next-higer post in an acting capacity (see next item); and
  2. attach the information regarding Ka Erdy's death to the next sentence. Why? Because this information is found in the news report I cited. In case you haven't read it, this is how the ABS-CBN news goes:
In a sense, the change of leadership is actually a misnomer since Manalo’s son, Eduardo “Ka Eddie Boy,” 54, is expected to carry the torch and the family legacy.
The elder Manalo himself assumed as executive minister of the INC also after the death of his father, Felix, who founded the religious organization on July 27, 1914.
Sources close to the inner circle of Ka Erdie say the late religious leader had been grooming the younger Manalo for years, just like what Felix did to his son a generation ago.
Eduardo has been the INC’s deputy executive minister, or the "pangalawang tagapamahalang pangkalahatan," and his assumption as his father’s successor will be just a formality, says an INC member.

(Note to new editors/casual visitors: There's no need to quote this in toto in the article itself as it's already linked via references.)

Comments, reactions...feel free to say them here now, let's discuss. Thanks. --- Tito Pao (talk) 04:31, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
