Edward Fitzgerald (1529-90) → Edward Fitzgerald (Great Grimsby and Lichfield MP) – For better alignment with WP:NCPDAB. Wikipedia does not ordinarily use lifespan ranges (especially with hyphens in them) for disambiguation of people. — BarrelProof (talk) 17:58, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support. The hyphenated parenthetical qualifier should indeed be revised. As for form of the qualifier, entries under Category:English MPs 1563–1567, Category:English MPs 1571 or Category:English MPs 1572–1583 are inconsistent, but seem to indicate "(MP for ...)", such as Thomas Andrews (MP for Dover), John Berde (MP for Hythe), Richard Birde (MP for Winchester), Thomas Cheyne (MP for Rye), Thomas Colby (MP for Thetford), James Dalton (MP for Saltash), Robert Knollys (MP for Breconshire), John Price (MP for Cardiganshire), Thomas Strange (MP for Cirencester) or Walter Vaughan (MP for Carmarthenshire), to name but ten. Thus, Edward Fitzgerald (1529-90) → Edward Fitzgerald (MP for Great Grimsby and Lichfield) might be an alternative option. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 17:26, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
- I believe the proposed form was suggested by Necrothesp. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:06, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support. Both forms are seen, but per WP:CONCISE I always prefer Edward Fitzgerald (Great Grimsby and Lichfield MP). -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:50, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- On the other hand, putting "MP" first gets to the basic point directly, with the "for ..." clearly being lower-level detail. "MP for ..." may also be easier to read for some people. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:29, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support Edward Fitzgerald (MP for Great Grimsby and Lichfield), per WP:CONSISTENT/WP:TITLECON. RodRabelo7 (talk) 02:23, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
