editI've piped Father Jones to John Jones (martyr), as plausible, even though he was long dead in 1605. Charles Matthews (talk) 07:45, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Oldcorne isn't on a list of the 40 Martyrs[1]. I've removed the reference pending clarification. Charles Matthews (talk) 09:05, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Gesù
editHi all, a question relating to the article. The phrase "Oldcorne's portrait, painted after his death for the Gesù, survived, as well as a number of his relics",(last paragraph of entry), refers to "Gesù". This is exactly what is contained in the Catholic Encyclopedia. Upon clicking on "Gesù" one is taken to a page about a church in Naples.
As Oldcorne was a Jesuit, would one say that it makes sense that the original meaning in the Catholic Encyclopedia of "Gesù" was a reference to "SJ" or "Society of Jesus" aka Jesuits?
If this is true, shouldn't the article be corrected by replacing "Gesù" with "Jesuits"?
Thanks Beforehand Tmichael
Thx for the imput - Do break the link to the church in Naples I'm sure that is just based on chance matches of "Gesu". (I thought I had!). As for it being the Jesuits .... seems plausible. Maybe you should just include "Gesu (This may mean the Society of Jesus)". This is anyones article, do feel free to add anything of value Victuallers (talk) 13:58, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Now clarified. Charles Matthews (talk) 12:12, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
The Gesù referred to is the mother church of the Jesuits in Rome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.237.213.203 (talk) 22:59, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
