Use of http://www.defence.lk

edit

I'm glad to see an effort to document the ongoing battles. However, I suggest that you qualify your use of information from the Sri Lankan government (e.g., defence.lk or the Daily News). There's no way to independently confirm government claims of casualties or bases captured, which often differ greatly from LTTE reports.

You can still use the information but it'd be better to say something like "The government claims that 30 LTTE cadres were killed" rather than "about 30 LTTE cadres were killed." Any thoughts? I'll wait a few days before making the edits myself. DC Wallah 07:40, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lots of unreferenced sections. Many sentence are of what the SLG says but nothing about LTTE's word on things. So NPOV is disputed and because some sections are not referenced I also contest the article's facts Watchdogb 18:18, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you have any problems point them out here or add {{fact}} tags, instead of randomly tagging articles. --snowolfD4 ( talk / @ ) 21:45, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Many problems with the article. Many citations come from defence.lk which is not a RS. Since there are paragraphs that are not cited from RS (hence the fact tags) the neutrality is disputed. Watchdogb 23:46, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removing citations from Reliable Sources.

edit

The government of USA has signed an agreement with Ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka and their official Website [www.defence.lk] is recognized as a Reliable Source of information by US. Also LTTE is designated as a terrorist group by the government of USA.

Removing the citations from [www.defence.lk] and putting the un-sourced tag, is similar to attack on source of information also it is similar to vandalism.--Lanka07 19:06, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Defence.lk is the official site of the SL Government, a warring party at the Civil war. As such it only provides and one side of the story and has been known to make false allegations and false statements. If this is considered an RS and put back in wikipedia, then I will go ahead and add LTTEPS, Tamilnet, TamilCanadian and others to articles too . Thanks Watchdogb 19:20, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article is on the development of Eelam War 4. It relates to the attacks, counter attacks and military development of the the Eelam War 4. Other materials can be added if, and only if, there is WP:RS that establishes connection with Eelam War 4. Political development and international development should be covered in other articles. I can't figure out how to edit the references, so hopefully someone more digitally literate can do that for me.

The link for reference 24 is broken. The correct address is: https://www.hrw.org/report/2007/01/23/complicit-crime/state-collusion-abductions-and-child-recruitment-karuna-group 86.81.69.131 (talk) 15:30, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
