Removal of Prod template
editI declined the proposed deletion of this article because I believe the person to be notable. Specifically WP:ATHLETE mentions "People who have competed at the highest amateur level of a sport". Since Camogie appears to be paled almost exclusively in Ireland, and is not part of the Olympic Games or World Championships, the All-Ireland competitions would appear to be the "highest amateur level", and not only playing but captaining a team at that level twice seems notable to me. This might be disputed, but it would IMO be a matter for WP:AFD, not WP:PROD. DES (talk) 16:53, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
The article does need cleanup. DES (talk) 16:53, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Is this article really needed?
editI have recently noticed a string of articles, including this one, about individual camogie players, all written by Gearoid69. I had never previously heard of camogie, and upon reading into it, found that it is played almost exclusively in Ireland. Due to this sport's limited popularity, I don't feel that individual players warrant their own articles. Instead, perhaps these articles could be consolidated. Request For Comment for this and other articles on camogie players
editI have recently noticed that a number of short articles about camogie players have been created, including this one. As camogie is played almost exclusively in Ireland, and does not appear to be played at an international level, I feel that adding pages about individual players is excessive, and akin to adding articles on individual div III football players. I have discussed this extensively with DESiegel, and s/he disagrees. My suggestion is that these articles be merged into one article about notable camogie players.RadManCF (talk) 18:39, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
