editI love how you always get so many white Historians (I.E, Frankl) claiming that Judaism has no connection to Africa Yet, the interesting thing is, there are a load of gnostic non-canonical books, such as the book of Enoch theEthiopian, that are in the Tewahido Bible. Alot of racist European Jews are going to not like my comment and will try to call me anti-semitic for saying this, but let me say it anyway: JEWS HAVE ORIGINS IN AFRICA AND YISRAEL, AND WHETHER THEY BE EUROPEAN 0R IRANIAN, THEY ARE JUST CONVERTS OF THE ORIGINAL JUDAISM. There, I said it. I am not anti semitic and I used to believe Jews originated in Europe and the Middle East before I converted to Rastafari. but that's just what I believe and it's my own opinon. Review of article
editTo begin with, this article is confusing in structure. There are numerous run-on sentences and the paragraph breaks seem arbitrary and confusing. For someone who has already read the text, the summary is generally possible to follow. However, for someone without a background in the text and a decent understanding of Jewish tradition, the summary section of the article is all over the place.
There are also very few source citations, and the references section of the article is confusing and difficult to navigate. Given that the heading to the article references a lack of citations, I was surprised to find that the only discussion in the "talk" page was about potential racist slants to the article. There are three contributing editors arguing about Judiasm's place as a religion or race, and the potential presence of non-white Jews.
In editing this article, I will try to break up some of the run-on sentences and long paragraphs to contribute to legibility. I will also look for sources to back up the claims made about Eldad, and potentially give some sources that will provide background to some of the less commonly-known elements of Jewish tradition (ex: the word haggadic is not explained at all).
Article Observations
editThis article is concerning, not only grammatically, but also academically. Certain sentences are incomplete and do not flow nor connect from one idea to the next. In the section on his travels, there is an incorrect quote that also lacks a citation. Certain details are also not elaborated, such as the four different types of "capital punishment." Additionally, the article comes off as having a passive aggressive opinion about Eldad's accounts. Words such as "fanciful," among other descriptors, can lace a biased opinion into the article. In editing, I will attempt to fix grammatical errors, add in citations, fix quotes, and rework sentences so that the correct information is given where the original idea occurs.Cpurcell97 (talk) 03:48, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
