I disagree strongly with the current text of the last section, "Voting systems to reduce wipe-out results", which currently contains this line: "The first change is to convert FPTP into some other system, IRV is best, but you can try LimV, AppV. With voting machines, one might even allow the voter to choose which system to use, because you can convert LimV and AppV to IRV." It is laughable to say that "IRV is best" so easily, with no explanation. - McCart42 (talk) 04:33, 15 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

For the record, that stuff had sat there basically untouched for nearly 2 years: [1] 68.39.174.238 03:52, 4 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wasn't sure how and whether this needed citing, but to be safe: here's a link (2000) and here's another (1996)

What the term "wipeout" or "wiped out" means.

edit

Being "wiped out" in an election, suffering an electoral "wipe out", means there is no one left, from that political party, in the body up for election. The article did not make that clear - so I have edited it, in order to make that clear. 2A02:C7C:E1BA:CE00:5538:3FC2:F496:BEA5 (talk) 08:30, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
