Move this page to "Electrostatic Discharge"?

I recommend that this page "ESD - Electrostatic Sensitive Device" redirects to "ESD - Electrostatic Discharge" where there is already more detail than contained here - including the information requested above. I don't know how to make such an edit though.

Sources?

Does anyone have any sources for any of these assertions. In particular stating that TTL and resistors (!) are static sensitive seems a bit of a stretch. It goes against my own experience and sources I have here. CrispMuncher (talk) 22:06, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Merge ESD-protection articles?

There are many short low-content articles on various ESD-protection equipment including Antistatic wrist strap, Antistatic garments, Antistatic agent, and Antistatic mat. It seems like these overlap a lot and should be merged. Thoughts? —Ben FrantzDale (talk) 12:33, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

I tend to agree, as long as this doesn't make this article too long (looking at those you mentioned, this doesn't look like an important concern). It may be best to title the merge target "Electrostatic damage" or "Electrostatic sensitivity". --Chealer (talk) 03:54, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Quantifying the risk

I try to avoid electrostatic damage, but sometimes I wonder if I'm investing the right quantity of effort. The Intel external link mentions that damage costs several millions of dollars per year, but if the total cost of damage is limited to 2 million USD, all enthusiasts should probably forget everything they know about ESD and deal with the consequences.

It would be great to add a better quantification of ESD's costs - for example, a more precise cost, an estimation of the ratio of devices which are damaged by ESD, or of the ratio of part failures attributed to ESD. --Chealer (talk) 05:05, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Good question. I have seen companies and people lose motivation for ESD protection, because the cost is difficult to measure. The problem is of course that good ESD protection cost quite a lot of money and requires daily personal effort and discipline. Andries (talk) 08:19, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Original Symbol?

Shipping labels has an image of what according to it is a version of of the tabel that was "Created originally as part of a military standard" but "has been superseded officially by the reach-reach in symbol" though it is claimed "it is still very popular in industrial use".
