Elend
editOk. Elend definitley means Misery in modern German. No dispute. I'm looking through Elend's site now to see if they ever actually say why they picked the name or what it means. I've found three different meanings so far on google: Misery, Nothing, Outside the Lands. Hopefully I can find something on their site that'll clarify so we can quit changing that back and forth. - I could be mistaken, but I vaguely remember that the meaning behind the name Elend was to suggest Lucifer's exodus (Hitchcock's Bible Names Dictionary's definition - seems to support your findings) - I believe it was concocted for the Officium Tenebrarum trilogy in mind. I currently can't find any references supporting my claims though, but I'll post a link if I can find the source again. 83.248.100.216 13:20, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Please do. It sounds like everyone has a theory but no one can back it up - including me! :) —Wknight94 (talk) 13:49, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Doom Metal sans "metal"
editI think the motiff of Elend songs and lyrics go well paired with the motiff of Doom Metal (despair, impending doom, etc) but sans the metal. Is there some sort of specific genre for that? I just think that Neoclassical is way too generic. Any thougths? --Pinnecco (talk) 13:52, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
