Verification and page needed tags

edit

I have copy edited this page's sources after the large expansion by User:Aldebaran69. While most of the new text is supported by reliable sources there is some text that is not.

  • Aldebaran69 if you add a source to a paragraph but it does not cover all the text from the last citation/beginning of the paragraph then add the template {{citation needed}} for the last sentence NOT covered by the new citation. This is the reason for my appending {{citation needed}} to the sentence "...wife and cousin Maria Gonzaga (heiress to the Duchy of Montferrat).[citation needed]
  • Aldebaran69 I added {{Failed verification}} because nothing in the brackets "(who in 1627 inherited the Duchy of Mantua after the extinction of the main line of the House of Gonzaga) and Catherine of Mayenne (a member of the House of Lorraine)" is in the citation.
  • Aldebaran69 I added {{Unreliable source}} to another Lundy citation. Lundy is an unreliable source and not all of what he adds to his page comes from reliable sources, so only those facts covered by reliable sources can be used via WP:SAYWHEREYOUREADIT. In this case his sources are:
    • [S102] Roglo Geneweb Website, online <http://geneweb.inria.fr/roglo?lang=en>. Hereinafter cited as Roglo Geneweb Website.
    • [S3409] Caroline Maubois, "re: Penancoet Family," e-mail message to Darryl Roger Lundy, 2 December 2008. Hereinafter cited as "re: Penancoet Family."
Neither of which are reliable sources so http://thepeerage.com/p10525.htm#i105248 is not a reliable source because it fails WP:SAYWHEREYOUREADIT
  • {{page needed}}. The Russian source "Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary" needs a page number without that English monoglot will not be able to find the facts in the Dictionary as the alphabet is not Latin. Unless the page can be provided the citation and information extracted from it will be deleted.
  • I replaced the template {{unreferenced section}} in the Ancestry I am not sure why it was removed as the section still has no citations.

Ancestry trees

edit

@user:Aldebaran69 "Citations should not be placed within or on the same line as section and subsection headings." (MOS:HEADINGS)

Ancestry trees are very difficult to source because you need an explicit source that states who the father and mother were for every branch of the tree. Just because a person's father or mother was x does not automatically mean that the spouse is the other parent as in the middle ages and eary modern period it is common for people to marry more than once. One mistake early in a tree can mean that upto half of the tree is incorrect. So great care is needed on these ancesty trees that the sources used are reliable and comprehensive. -- PBS (talk) 23:25, 10 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ok, understood, no more citations in headings. Thanks Aldebaran69 (talk) 01:00, 11 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
