Find a Grave is listed in the "Bibliography" section that is a reference and is considered unreliable. Otr500 (talk) 00:16, 17 February 2011 (UTC).

It's considered acceptable for the purpose of identifying the location of a gravesite, if no better source is available. I don't see it being used for any other purpose here. // ⌘macwhiz (talk) 03:29, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

There is absolutely no consideration that Find a Grave is acceptable as a source or reference. Jimmy Wales said, "I really want to encourage a much stronger culture which says: it is better to have no information, than to have information like this, with no sources." A bad source is not any better than no source. Using Find a Grave because there is no better source sets up an article for WP:Deletion or WP: SPEEDY as failing WP:NOTABILITY.

In fact using Find a Grave as a source or reference fails;

• 1)- WP:SOURCES; Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and *accuracy.
• 2)- WP:NOTRELIABLE; Questionable sources are those with a poor reputation for checking the facts, or with no editorial oversight.
• 3)- WP:SELFPUBLISH; Find a Grave is user edited and uses anonymous or pseudonymous editors.
• 4)- WP:SPS; This includes any website whose content is largely user-generated, including the Internet Movie Database, Cracked.com, CBDB.com, and so forth, with the exception of material on such sites that is labeled as originating from credentialed members of the sites' editorial staff, rather than users. Find a Grave is not currently specifically named as is IMBd but falls under "and so forth". Further, the Find a Grave project, WP:Find-A-Grave famous people states;
• A)- Remember that all articles must satisfy Wikipedia core policies of notability, verifiability and reliable sources. Find-A-Grave is not considered a reliable source.
• B)- For any articles you create because of this project, you can add the entry's Find-A-Grave link to the External links sections of the article.
• C)- If you add facts from Find-A-Grave into the article, add Find-A-Grave as an external link, not a source.
• I could add more but feel there is amply proof and rationale to show that because Find a Grave has been used more with implied consensus than anything else, and considering consensus can change, and the above policies and guidelines (not to mention the Find a Grave project), I have (along with contribs and references) moved Find a Grave to an external links section which at this time is acceptable.
• I have also de-orphaned and removed the reference and orphan tags. Otr500 (talk) 06:59, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
