I wish "fans", as well intentioned they truly are, would stop writing these articles. This is so full of irrelevant and meaningless crap, absurd comparisions and insignificant name dropping. Elmore's contribution to electric blues and of course specifcally slide guitar is momumental. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.98.15.169 (talk) 19:05, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Becoming a well-known musician in those days, with the rewards of prestige, good free food, illicit free liquor, women's favours, the promise of escape from the hard agricultural work, etc., must have been as attractive to Elmore as it was to the other musicians of that time and earlier, such as the 'second' Sonny Boy Williamson, with whom he played and Robert Johnson with whom he also possibly played." Without reading through the entire article, this particular section seems to be one of the most redundant, illogical, illegitimate statements to put into an encyclopedic article about anything. I have not taken any action to clean up this page; I would, however, encourage anyone who sees this to take action, especially a moderator. Thanks! Styk0n (talk) 07:58, 3 June 2012 (UTC)Styk0nReply

I took out most, or at least the most obvious, of the irrelevant and speculative material and touched up a bit of grammar, If anyone thinks I was too heavyhanded, they are of course free to revert. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.72.244.157 (talk) 15:28, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Re: the opening sentence: "Elmore recorded in an era when few blues artists recorded albums." I think it may be worth considering a rewording of this. The term 'album' dates back to 1909 and refers to a book, much like a photo album, which 78 rpm discs would be collected inside. It is likely afficiandaos did collect together albums of James' recordings, although they were not issued as such by the record company. But I see what was trying to be communicated here and will concede that long playing records had not gained popularity during his career. Is the term album perhaps getting confused with the term LP record here? Because they are really two different things. Kaleeyed (talk) 23:14, 9 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

edit

It should be noted that James was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of a Fame as an "early influence" in 1992. 107.221.229.121 (talk) 03:28, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it should. This article is in serious need of an expansion/rewrite. —Ojorojo (talk) 13:37, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
