editI've altered the order of appearance of the soviet coats of arms in accord to the time when the capital of the countries became part of the Muscovy/Russian Empire or Soviet Union:
- Ukraine: 1667
- Belarus: 1793
- Georgia: 1801
- Armenia: 1813, 1828
- Azerbaijan: 1813, 1828
- Kazakhstan: 1854, 1863
- Uzbekistan: 1865
- Tajikistan: 1868
- Kyrgyzstan: 1876, 1877
- Turkmenistan: 1884, 1894
- Estonia: 1721, 1940
- Latvia: 1721, 1795, 1940
- Lithuania: 1795, 1940
- Moldova: 1812, 1940
At the same time, this organization also shows the republics in a logical geographical/ethnic grouping:
- Slavic bloc: Ukraine, Belarus
- Caucasian bloc: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia
- Central Asian bloc: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan
- Baltic bloc: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
- Eastern European bloc: Moldova

Order of Soviet COAs and flags
editHi Explendido,
Could you explain more about the reason why ("Constitutional order") you have changed the display order of the coats of arms and flags of Soviet Union?
Saudações do Brasil, --MaGioZal 4 July 2005 15:27 (UTC)
- Constitutional order comes from the amount of people populationg that particular republic. The same goes for people of the USSR. In Soviet censuses it would be interstingly split first come the titled nationalities with union republics (Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians...etc) Then dwellers of the autonomous republics (These are group ordered alphabetically, (by group I mean all the peoples in a shared republic are given together eg. Dagestan, Checheno-Ingueshetia etc). Then come those with autonomus regions (Adygeyans, Cherkessians), then those with autonomus/national distrcts (Chukchi, Evenkians), then other indegious people of the USSR that do not have any national representitive (Saams, gypsies). And only after then come the non-native people living in the USSR (Americans, French etc.). --Kuban Cossack 00:03, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- The order should be the same as it was historically used. The best source would be to look into the Constitution of USSR. [1] If this is what Kuban Kazak means then I support it. KPbIC 01:14, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- It is. I hope no one minds Karelo-Finnish SSR. --Kuban Cossack 09:07, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

grid template
editIt might be useful to add the emblems right into the grid template, as was done at Coats of arms of Asia. Another idea that might be beneficial, possibly show a side-by-side with the modern arms, as many show a natural progression. Chris 20:56, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- How about this, Chris? — Kpalion(talk) 19:36, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, that rocks! That's perfect, thanks! Shall we add it to the article space? Chris 21:48, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I put the new table in the article. — Kpalion(talk) 02:34, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

- The table has been moved to the article space, so I removed it from here to reduce clutter. — Kpalion(talk) 17:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Recently created user:Pianist ru (either an SPA or a sockpuppet) has been going through and deleting only Abkhazia from articles and templates without discussion or rationale. I have reverted all such edits as POV vandalism until a valid rationale is put forth by Pianist ru. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 16:50, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I agree here, seems a WP:POINTy attack. --Kuban Cossack 17:49, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
