Dr Healey (Moore Institute reference) rather belittles Emily Anderson's work in the British Foreign Office - implying she was shuffling papers, etc, and includes a lot of extraneous material (including, bizarrely, a reference to honey-trapping!). The briefer reference from GCHQ says she was a most efficient intelligence officer. Calc-flinta (talk) 01:16, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
The Ui Chionna biography indicates Anderson started her cryptographic career in July 1918, resigning her academic post for "the duration of the war". She was then re-recruited in 1919-20 as the new GC&CS service was established so there was a period where she was trying to keep her academic career open whilst also negotiating to stay in her cryptographic career.
