Keith Emerson
editIs it really possible that a reader seeking Keith Emerson might land on this page seeking disambiguation?? I guess it's unlikely. Any objection to removing him? Hult041956 01:39, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see how he or Eric Moulds wound up on this page. If their articles don't see it important enough to mention that they are, in any way, referred to as "emo" then I don't think it's entirely appropriate to have them here. I don't know that people are going to come here looking for such people. Then again, I don't know for sure. --Cheeser1 04:19, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Right, Cheeser. This isn't the emo artist catagory page. (Not that Keith Emerson would belong there either.) It's a disambiguation page. Disamb pages are for naming ambiguities, not for sorting out what genre we think artists belong in. I'll give it a bit more wait to see if someone else comes to the rescue. - I did some googling. It turns out both of these gentlemen do have the nickname "EMO". I guess it's you and I who are in the dark, huh? It's odd that neither WP article mentions this (nor even contains these three letters in that sequence -- I checked). I suppose at this point I would vote to let these references stand as they are. - (Vote?) If they are commonly referred to as "Emo", then their articles should note that if it's noteworthy. If the articles make note of it, then (after that) they should be included here. -- JHunterJ (talk) 14:02, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Medda
edit"emo" is an abbreviation for emotional... But some teens have made it into a style and a way of life. Some "Emos" imitate depression in an attempt for attention. Some just like dark stuff. But sometimes, teens who really have serious problem with depression can be labeled "emo" and made fun of for it since "emos" are supposed to be known for exaggerating life problems and taking things too seriously as well as being very sensitive. Emos can turn out suicidal, cut themselves or use other ways of self injury. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.230.118.240 (talk) 17:10, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- So why is that not on the list, afterall, this has got to be the most common use for the word these day's!--124.176.26.182 (talk) 10:03, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Is there an article for that? If so, it could be disambiguated. If not, then there's nothing to put on the list. -- JHunterJ (talk) 12:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Of course there isn't. What the IP is describing is an ambiguous neologism/stereotype. --Cheeser1 (talk) 18:21, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Return of Emo (slang)
editLilmisscleverclogs' recent edit seems to be a slang usage. You think it's close to the right one? If so, perhaps we move it up from the footer and into the list. Hult041956 21:20, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Emo is a sub-culture
editAs you all have heard, emos is actually a type of sub-culture, they dress in all black, and normally are hard on themselves/self. If someone could please make a article about our dear emo (kids/teens) then i would thank them very much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Werthq (talk • contribs) 20:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I believe Emo is slang or abbreviated for Emotionally Challenged, for in extreme cases, will create self inflicted wounds, or most common, try to avoid all social contact. Alexthegod5 (talk) 02:57, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
I agree, the concept of Emo is generally regarded to be some sort of an active sub-culture. This emo 'sub-culture' if you will have shared ideas, perceptions and trends, this personally therefore justifies the need for more pages on teen culture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.172.48.65 (talk) 19:00, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Someone has been deleting my attempt to put emo, meaning an EMOtional person. I think it's the same person who put a message on my talkpage telling me to come to this talkpage. Can someone please explain to this person what emo means in this context?Kelly222 (talk) 01:36, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- I don't need that explained to me. The first link is the same link that you're trying to add. Disambiguation pages shouldn't link to the same page multiple times...and this isn't a dictionary so making sure that your definition of what the word means is on the page isn't necessary. --Onorem♠Dil 01:56, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Dear Onorem, I think you might not have had the chance to read my last summary for my edit on the page. Could you please read it and let me know your thoughts. Yours sincerelyKelly222 (talk) 02:02, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- I did see your summary...but disambiguation pages should not link to the same page multiple times. Perhaps you missed my summary noting that the link is already on the page. It's not just to the music, but to the music and subculture. --Onorem♠Dil 02:05, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Dear Onorem, oh, I see. Thank you very much for correcting me. Is there a wikipedia rule about making a link twice on the same page like this? I think the music and and idea of an emo person are related but are two separate things. Could we make a link to the fashion and stereotype section and the idea that Emo is associated with the stereotype of a person that includes being particularly emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angst-ridden. It is also associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide? Yours sincerely Kelly222 (talk) 02:32, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- I believe there used to be an article dedicated to the topic of the 'emo (person)' but it was merged into the music article because there weren't enough reliable sources to support the article on its own. I might be wrong about that. --Onorem♠Dil 02:40, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Onorem, That's quite interesting to hear. I'm sorry if that was the case. If you agree, I will make the link to the fashion section so that people coming to the disambiguation page will know it's different to the music section. Kelly222 (talk) 07:35, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Electronics Material Officer
editElectronics Material Officer is an important part of the organisation of a major warship see https://www.allacronyms.com/EMO/navy but I do not see it covered in Wikipedia, am I missing it? Andrewa (talk) 05:31, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
