Dynasty name?

edit

Does anyone knows what was, if any, the name chosen by Yuan Shih-Kai to be the dynastic name (such as Ming, Qing, etc)? Hongxian seems to be his reign name only. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.40.57.129 (talk) 20:42, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Map is incorrect

edit

The map on this page entitled "The boundaries of the Chinese Empire in 1915." is incorrect, as it includes the island of Taiwan (highlighted in green). Taiwan had been ceded in perpetuity by the Qing Dynasty to the Empire of Japan in 1895 (Treaty of Shimonoseki), and did not become part of the Republic of China until 1945.Qiagen (talk) 03:29, 18 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

It’s been 8 years and no one has changed it yet, can someone do something? Zinderboff 01:39, 23 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Unclear sentence

edit

"On 11 December 1915, an assembly unanimously elected him as Emperor. Yuan ceremonially declined, but "relented" and immediately agreed when the National Assembly petitioned again that day."

So, it is just "an assembly" on 11 December, but the "National Assembly" the next day ?? On the page for the National Assembly of the Republic of China, is says that the National Assembly was dissolved in 1914, and that it was not re-established until late in 1916. Supposedly, there was no "National Assembly" in operation in December of 1915, then ? So what was this purported assembly in December 1915, then ? Just a bunch of Yuan's stooges and cronies ?Lathamibird (talk) 06:54, 4 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
