Endler's picture
editI just posted an Endler's picture. Despite the name of the picture (Poecilia reticulata 01), this picture is actually a picture of Endler's Livebearer (Poecilia wingei). --Chrisverde 00:15, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Why I've moved this page
editBecause Endler's livebearer isn't the only (or most common) common name for this fish. It's also known as Endler livebearer, Endler guppy, and Endler's guppy. I've made redirects for all four common names to the one Latin name, Poecilia wingei. Using the Latin name avoids all confusion.

- Hi Neale. You probably already knew this. After renaming an article, you might also want to check for the double redirects and convert them if there are any. I already fixed it for this article. Cheers, --Melanochromis 15:53, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Controversy
editIn the interest of completeness, should we have at least a mention of the question (still open in many people's minds) of whether wingei is merely a subspecies (or even regional race) of reticulata? Despite the current taxonomy, there are still disagreements between the splitters and the lumpers (full disclosure: I'm a lumper). Worldwalker (talk) 22:56, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
