Marking this as Start for now. Cleanup would probably bring it to B-class. - SpLoT // 13:18, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Resolved This issue has been resolved, and I have therefore removed the tag, if not already done. No further action is necessary.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 21:00, 9 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Endurance-160

edit

We need more info on this. It looks nothing like the Endurance-class pictured in this article. It is longer, with a full length flight deck. We need either an expanded variant section or a separate article, and definitely a photo. - theWOLFchild 02:23, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

° There is also the Endurance-170 which is an enhanced version of the Endurance-160, longer, wider heavier... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2406:5A00:34E7:1B00:2C2F:837B:B495:B016 (talk) 10:55, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

"...they lack the beaching capability..."

edit

The article states "While the RSN describes the Endurance-class as LSTs, they lack the beaching capability traditionally associated with LSTs...". Yet Friedman states otherwise in his U.S. Amphibious Ships and Craft on page 342, where he asserts the Endurance-class makes use of bow doors and ramps much like the earlier HMS Boxer and USS Newport classes. Moreover, most of the photos in this article clearly show bow doors.

Is it possible that the Endurance-class was built with beaching capability only to have it removed at a later date? If not, then the ships may still have this capability.

Does anyone know? Tfdavisatsnetnet (talk) 20:36, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

There are bow doors and a ramp access into the hull of the Endurance-class but they are used for loading and unloading when alongside proper facilities, as seen in this image.

At the same time, the Endurance-class has a bulbous bow which precludes them from ever performing a beaching, though only once.

Here is another photo of the bulbous bow out of the water and the lowered ramp.
