Very Incomplete
editThis seems very incomplete. It makes some basic statement about oil being used for certain types of energy, but doesn't discuss any others in use in Europe, such as biomass, brown and black coal, hydro, nuclear, geothermal, gas, solar, or wind.
Also, the part under "Renewable Energy" talking about possible growth in European renewable energy production is not hard data, but a sort of hope/dream of whoever input that information. Not useful, or up to Wikipedia's standards. What was the actual renewable energy production for Europe, in both gross and net electricity produced, by year (by month as well would be better)? That would be useful information, to track actual renewable energy production and development. 97.116.185.37 (talk) 13:54, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- That's mentioned here: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=Energy_statistics_-_an_overview#Final_energy_consumption , right? SvenAERTS (talk) 12:08, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
cr. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=Glossary:Gross_inland_energy_consumption it is used in e.g. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=Energy_statistics_-_an_overview#Final_energy_consumption the unit is million tonnes of oil equivalent, but it is not clear to me if this is per day or per year. And I'd also mention it in MWh. Don't I have to make a kick-off page first? I don't know any better how to phrase this than a copy paste of the definition as per first link above. - @SvenAERTS: Well, your second link describes
"Primary production of energy within the EU in 2019 amounted to 616 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe)"
, so it seems clear to me that this unit is per year. Considering also that petroleum-sourced final energy consumption in the EU was some 300 million tonnes of oil equivalent in 2019,[1] amounting to roughly 5 billion barrels, and that the entire world consumes on the order of 35 billion barrels per year,[2] I suppose this must be by year. If it were to be by day, it would be larger than world consumption by roughly a factor of 50. - I'm not sure I understand
"Don't I have to make a kick-off page first?"
. Do you mean a draft, either in draft namespace or userspace? It's often a good idea to work in a draft page if your article won't be ready for publication as an article (in mainspace) for some time. If that doesn't answer your question, you can ask again or perhaps come to the IRC room.
