Improving this article

Turns out there's a very detailed English language article at the Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/06/fatal-hike-became-nazi-propaganda-coup) which the German Wikipedia article mentions existing, but doesn't link to. Irrelevant Aside

I am not sure I understand the pointless, unsubstantiated politically charged comment from the article's author: "Afterwards, the Nazis reframed the behavior of the group as a heroic deed" when the sources refer to the local inhabitants' attempt at rescuing the group (which is unquestionably a heroic deed?). As it says at the top of the article, "This article is a rough translation from German. It may have been generated by a computer or by a translator without dual proficiency." - this is likely just a mistranslation, ascribing something to the group of students instead of the group of rescuers.

There's a Guardian article headlined "The fatal hike that became a Nazi propaganda coup" used as a source elsewhere in the article, and the original German article certainly has several paragraphs about it, so mentioning the Nazi angle isn't entirely out of the blue. --Lord Belbury (talk) 14:07, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

My Own Long Hike

Years ago, when l was in a Work Orientation Workshop, the other kids and l hiked all the way to the Ottawa Mint because the bus drivers were on strike. When we arrived, we found the mint closed, so l led the group to the Bookery, a shop on Bank Street. One of the kids had a heart conditions, so if we hafn't taken a tour bus back to base, there could have been at least one tragedy for us as well.Tnarrud3 (talk) 22:37, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
