This article really needs renaming to "English ...." as that is all it attempts to cover, and most statements in it are inaccurate if applied to the rest of Europe, never mind further afield. Johnbod (talk) 14:47, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I wrote most of the article and admit it is mostly based on English monuments, although I did try and reference France, the Netheralnds, etc too. I don't think it needs renaming, just expanding. These statements are just a few that are wildly wide of the mark if the whole of Europe was intended as the subject:

The best monuments were made of alabaster. Around the 13th century, smaller two-dimensional effigies incised in plates of brass and affixed to monumental slabs of stone became popular too. These memorial brasses were somewhat cheaper and particularly popular with the emerging middle class.
