I'm trying to write an improved article on Adverbials. The best starting point, I believe, is the distinction between adverbials which are integral clause elements and those which are not. I couldn't find a suitable cross-reference for the notion of Clause element. That subsection Constituents of a clause isn't really focussed enough, and Clause is very general indeed — and Syntactic category even more so. To the best of my ability I've tried to clarify the notion and reconcile the terminologies of the major reference grammars of English.DavidCrosbie (talk) 03:07, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
This article really should ideally be merged into another page. It's trivial enough that I could really do it myself, but non-trivial enough that I don't have the motivation for it. Posting this talk page edit in the hopes that someone with more motivation sees it and follows through, or that I remember later when I feel like tackling it.
