Big changes with project.

edit

This article needs to be restructured to reflect the changes with Enlightenment. It seems DR16 and DR17 are now considered to be separate projects with different history and versioning schemes. 4.238.179.246 (talk) 19:22, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Stacking or Compositing Window Manager?

edit

This page says, Enlightment is a stacking window manager. The description of compositing window managers says, Enlightment is one of them. Which description is correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.92.177.70 (talk) 15:17, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's both.
A 'stacking window manager' allows windows to be 'stacked' on top of each other (similar to MS Windows and Mac OS X). As opposed to a, for instance, 'tiling window manager' where each window gets it's own section of the screen.
Compositing refers to a graphics rendering function. The ability to use graphics aceleration, usually via the GPU but E17 can also do it with the CPU, to render effects like transparency, animated icons, shadows around windows, and more. E17 allows the user to choose whether or not to enable compositing. E17 is very customisable. [I'm using it now as I type.] --Kevjonesin (talk) 16:36, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Since E17 ships with a full-featured "Tiling" module, wouldn't it be more proper to refer to it as a multi-paradigm window manager? 07:43, 30 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.37.234.25 (talk)

Wayland support

edit

The current version of the article does not mention support for Wayland. Is it supported in 18? Is it due to be supported in 19? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.114.7.39 (talk) 09:07, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
