I've just changed the English title of Ensamma mamman from Lonely Mom and moved it to Single Mom. If anybody has the title Lonely Mom straight from Cecilia Torudd, please change it back, but I know the strip well, I'm a professional translator, and I really don't think it's a good translation. "Ensam mamma" is the standard Swedish term for a single mom. Torudd's heroine does have some overtones of loneliness, but that's only some of the time, and it's not what's focused in the strip: her single parenthood is. Single Mom does lose a smidgeon of meaning, but Lonely Mom adds a ton of excess meaning. Bishonen 22:30, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- But is there actually an official translation of this comic?
I think the strip was published in English in the "Gare du Nord" anthology, (a joint project between several nordic cartoonists and publishers). I can't find my own copy right now, but if I'm right and someone else has it, that would settle the dispute.
- Hmmm, no, I think there is only other comics by the same author.
- I tried googling for that English title. Not an extremely thorough search, but all I could find were references and mirrors to this article. I'm moving the article to Ensamma mamman for now. If anyone ever finds that translation, just bring it up here and we'll move it back.
