Using the search function in the respective book page in http://www.historica.ca, I looked in Howay & Scholefield's "British Columbia From the Earliest Times to the Present" (a common title, also used by Alexander Begg for his magnum opus) and found a passage about the Enterprise being the vessel by which Governor Douglas took leave of the Island Colony at his retirement from that position - see this link - although the grand send-off on the Enterprise was only for his move to New Westminster (where he also relinquished governance, but to a different incoming governor). I was surprised not to see more mention of the Enterprise in this volume, but I haven't fully looked at the section on the Fraser River steamers yet, though there is some detail on the earliest stemaers here.Skookum1 (talk) 06:02, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is the slough between Glen Valley (Langley) and Ruskin (Mission/Maple Ridge) on the Fraser River and would seem to be named for the Enterprise, which plied these waters and maybe used this channel - ? - or regularly moored in it. Nothing in BCGNIS about it but thought I'd note it here in case any verifiability of t he name-attribution turns up. [Here is the BCGNIS reference] for it.Skookum1 (talk) 00:59, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
