editI have moved the below from the main text
It has been claimed, though not substantiated, that O'Duffy was Michael Collins's choice as his successor. However neither W. T. Cosgrave nor Richard Mulcahy viewed him as fit for national leadership. It has also been suggested that Cosgrave and Mulcahy intended to remove him as Garda Commissioner had Cumann na nGaedheal won the 1932 general election. However Cumann na nGaedhael lost power in 1932 to Fianna Fáil under Éamon de Valera .

Error in the infobox
editThe info box said O'Duffy was in Cumann na nGaedheal from 1923 to 1933. He couldn't have been. As a Garda he was banned from membership of a political party. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.28.178.10 (talk) 15:36, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
Census 1911 - Interesting
editHere's the 1911 Census record for O'Duffy. As mentioned in the article he was living in Monaghan. Boarding and recorded as Owen Duffy. 19Yrs Old, working as a Clerk for the County Surveyor. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003141238/ 211.31.37.109 (talk) 13:44, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
