Abbreviation
editI'd like confirmation that the abbreviation Pol. Phil. does apply to this epistle.

Rename article to "Polycarp's Epistle to the Philippians"
editI'd like to propose renaming this article "Polycarp's Epistle to the Philippians." Firstly, this would make this article consistent with the naming convention of the articles on the Pauline epistles, all of which are named "Epistle to ____" rather than "Letter to ____." Secondly, this wording would reflect more clearly the real possibility/probability that the epistle is a composite of two separate letters, since the word "epistle" more commonly denotes a literary genre of letter-like documents which may be composite/edited/intended for public reading. Thirdly, "epistle" seems to be the more common name for the document; New Advent, for example, calls it an "epistle": http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0136.htm. Also, the current title doesn't fit with Wikipedia's standards on the capitalization of the titles of articles- at minimum, "letter" should be capitalized.
If I don't hear any objections here, I'll make the change myself soon. Montgolfière (talk) 16:41, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, also, "Epistle of Polycarp to the Philippians" would also work. Montgolfière (talk) 16:42, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
