Erastus' job description

edit

I have provided a source for the translation of Erastus' job description "director of public works". The translations I have for the original greek are chamberlain / governor / steward / manager / treasurer but these are existing bible translations, i believe, so if anyone is a scholar of greek language or greek history and can provide further information on what his job actually was that would be helpful. In some bible commentaries Erastus is mentioned as being of a high position, which makes his inclusion noteworthy, so an extension of the translation issues here would be helpful. baby_ifritah 06:54, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Added - "It is not certain if these verses all refer to the one person."

Does this require a citation? Some discussion of the likelihood of these references being related might be worthwhile. baby_ifritah 04:33, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Extension of info on Erastus Inscription

edit

I have included a reference to the debate regarding the relevance of this inscription. If anyone has access to the full source rather than just the abstract I believe that would be useful. baby_ifritah 06:56, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The original stub lacked any citations, so I have added what I could. If there are any problems with the formatting, please feel free to correct them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Baby ifritah (talkcontribs) 07:00, 18 April 2007 (UTC).Reply
