Speedy Deletion !?
editThe subject is clearly notable, Erdal Saygın is the former president of the İzmir Institute of Technology. Iytenet (talk) 12:59, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't believe that simply being the president of an Institute of technology is sufficent enough to be classed as notable, if the person has done notable things in order to become president, possibly. But these things are not established in the article. Printer222 (talk) 13:08, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- It is not necessarily enough to be notable, but it is certainly at least some indication or claim of importance--and there is not suitable for a speedy deletion. In practice, almost all heads of universities have been considered notable at AfD. But the article must be considerably expanded. Find out his major publications and add them. There must also have been some news stories about him when he took the position. Add the information from them and give a reference. doesnt matter if they're in Turkish--any language is OK here for a reference, print or online. DGG (talk) 18:21, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Subject died June 2007. Institute now has a conference hall named after him, so I guess that is a pretty conclusive indication of notability.--CharlieDelta (talk) 08:45, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
