Origin of Name
editThis entry is referenced in a recent New York magazine article, wich notes that the "Wikipedia page describes the titular Erewhon of the 1872 novel as a 'utopia in which individuals are responsible for their own health,' but this is not what even a casual reader would take from the text." See https://www.thecut.com/article/erewhon-smoothie-boston-los-angeles-history.html I'm adding the context that in the satirical novel, "people are prosecuted not for ethical breaches but for the crime of being ill".
