It may be relevant to include in this article the various ways of translating Erkenntnis in German philosophy. In previous translations of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, translated by Kemp Smith, he translates Erkenntnis to "Knowledge, but in more recent translations it is translated to "Cognition"
