Image:ERWin 4.1.4.3643 on Windows 2000 screenshot.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Model Manager?

The article includes "The tool was later renamed to CA ERwin Model Manager." I do not think this claim is correct. I beleive that "Data Modeler" and "Model Manager" are two components of the CE Erwin Modeling Suite. Product name changes perhaps aren't all that important to Wikipedia readers -- they can alwsys look them up on the vendor web site, I guess. The ERwin web site currently seems to imply that Model Manager is now called CA ERwin Workgroup Edition. But who knows that it will be called tomorrow. Matthew C. Clarke 10:59, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Physical & Logical confusion?

This article uses the terms "logical model" and "physical model" to refer to the same thing: a set of tables. A table can be expressed as an SQL Query (DDL) or a diagram. Thus, the only difference between "logical model" and "physical model" is one of representation not of substance.

I believe your understanding of "logical" and "physical" is mistaken. In the context of Entity-Relationship modeling, a Physical model means that the symbols on the diagram correspond to actual database objects, such as tables and constraints. By contrast, a Logical E-R model has similar-looking symbols but they don't necessarily correspond 1-to-1 with the objects in the database. For example, on a Logical model you can show two tables (say A and B) with a many-to-many relationship between them. Whereas on a Physical model that same scenario would show tables A and B plus a third intermediate table to implement the many-to-many relationship. Similarly, the Logical model might show human-meaningful names on relationships (such as "owns" or "borrowed book from", whereas the Physical model might show database-meaningful names on the relationships (for example the name of the FK constraint). Some tools, such as erwin, are able to convert a Logical model into a Physical model for your choice of specific DBMS. Gwideman (talk) 09:04, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
