The article infobox gives his death date as 13 November 1942 but the Volksbund war grave site page cited gives his 'Date of death/missing' on 23 January 1942, considerably earlier in the year, and January 1942 is given as the month he fell in his article on German wikipedia. It would make me query if this refers to the footballer.Cloptonson (talk) 19:53, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

The citation to the Volksbund war grave website gives his place of death or going missing as "Skwarez West", which in the English translation of the entry is undoubtedly how it is spelt in German but I find it does not google in German wikipedia. However, the Soviet Union at the time included not only Russia but Ukraine, Belorussia (Belarus), Moldavia (Moldova) and the erstwhile Baltic republics Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia as well as the Kressy Poland provinces annexed under the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact. So it would be worthwhile if the name could be translated in the language of its present country of location so the location can be better pinpointed.Cloptonson (talk) 19:22, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
