An Interview that Needs to be Placed in Badu References
edit[Erykah Badu Interview By Ferrari Sheppard on StopBeingFamous.com March 2009]
Whistle Register
editNever heard it
- She hit D6 in a live performance of Stay in her live album. She hit it in mixed which is between chest and head registers. If she can hit D6 in mixed, theres a great chance she can hit E6 in head. Myke 21:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Where did the record sales numbers come from? They don't match the numbers in riaa.org
Page quality
editthis prose sucks. suggest someone writes it properly.
could you have any worse pictures?? on both pictures erykah badu is not recognizable. there are a million pictures out there, i suggest you put in one that actually shows here features.
I'm not sure about the use of "solely sample Erykah Badu's recordings," given that she does actually sing many of the songs included on the list; they're not sampled vocals, the songs simply don't appear on Erykah's albums.
on discogs it has her as born in 1972.. someone is wrong —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.192.235.118 (talk) 21:20, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
"music style" sounds too commercial
editThe "music style" section sounds too much like an advertisement. It should probably be rewritten. 192.158.61.167 16:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
"MUSLIM NAME"?
editThere is no such thing as a Muslim name, only names commonly used by muslims. These names however come from other languages, paticluary Arabic, it being the holy language —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.243.161.203 (talk) 06:14, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
There is no such thing as 'the holy language', all languages are holy. --68.51.72.144 (talk) 21:44, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
"Translated from Muslim"?
editMuslim is not a language either. Translated from Arabic, perhaps? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lauranen (talk • contribs) 23:56, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
2010 Fine
edit- At least she was not fined for bowhunting in California! 63.215.28.173 (talk) 22:12, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Musical Style Section
editPardon, but what is this paragraph trying to say? It is not clear and assumes the reader will readily understand its oblique and unqualified characterizations:
- Badu's lyrics are highly personal philosophies which throw emotional challenges in the face of the listener.
What is the writer trying to say with "personal philosophies"? How can lyrics be "philosophies"?
And even more peculiar is "emotional challenged." What the darn is that?
67.87.92.56 (talk) 18:16, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- I assume it means that through her lyrics, she implicitly expresses many of her personal philosophies which can be hard for her listeners to pin down without some prior foundational knowledge. You could consider these a form of "hidden transcript".
- Emotional challenges sounds pretty self-explanatory though. Addressing emotional challenges are, in large part, the motivation for a lot of musicians and artists. I think the author is just trying to express that Badu accomplishes this differently from other artists.
- But, I don't know what they mean by throwing the emotional challenges in the face of the listener. That's the part that seems strange to me. Seems like lazy writing which, again, is meant to support the idea that Badu does this radically different. I don't think the author successfully accomplishes this though. restored personal life info
editAn anonymous user deleted all the personal info with only "this sucks" as their explanation. As all the content was sourced and because it's better to have at least a partial personal info than an unseemly blank space, I went ahead and restored it. If someone has an issue with the personal info listed or thinks it could be improved, I recommend they expand on it; don't just delete everything because you don't like it. Window Seat Controversy
editMy writing is regarding the Controversy section on the page. Most of the information SEEMS to be right, but most of the rumors that have circulated are not true. She wasn't arrested, NOR was she put on probation. She only received a ticket. She has explained this many times, but this page still seems to have inaccurate information. I also have references citing it.

Malaysia Controversy
editWhilst probably best known as a singer in the United Sates, is she not best known in the rest of the World because of the Allah Tattoos controversy and yet it isn't even mentioned in the article. This seems very odd ?? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-17187560 Unibond (talk) 15:38, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
