No mention of Escondido?
editIt seems like many of these San Diego area communities have funny nicknames, yet no mention are made of it. All these SoCal entries are very sugar-coated — no mention of crime rates or unemployment or homelessness. --24.249.108.133 22:13, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Because the articles want to stay positive and interesting to read while maintaining an encyclopediac value and not to possibly offend or disrespect the communities they are discussing. 71.102.21.238 (talk) 14:52, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Climate
edit"The city has a mild climate"
- How does a yearly high of 87 degrees (aug) and low of 39 degrees (dec) indicate a mild temperature? [1] I propose removing this. Escondido is not like costal San Diego, it gets really hot during the day and cold at night. —User:Christopher Mann McKay 00:13, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Diegueño
edit"The city is known as 'Eskondiid in Diegueño."
- While this is an interesting piece of information, I'm not sure that the Diegueño language (which, according to the Wikipedia entry, is spoken by fewer than 150 people nationwide) rates inclusion in the opening paragraph of the article.

- I agree. It's not as if it's the origin of the name. Evil saltine (talk) 05:01, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Though thinking about it again, I don't see a problem with including it if it's properly sourced. Evil saltine (talk) 10:50, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Sockers stadium? or Chargers coliseum?
editEscondido not only will not have the temporary Tucson Padres move there, no hope of a NFL standard stadium and no word about a soccer-themed stadium either.
The San Diego Sockers announced that the team may build an indoor soccer-specific stadium in the city with a target date of fall, 2013.
The San Diego Chargers continue to hold interest in a future stadium in Escondido, as well the failed Miramar "MegaPlex" coliseum plan in 2000. If the Chargers accept a possible relocation to Los Angeles, then a future NFL team is in store for the San Diego area.
According to the Sockers web site, they remain in the Del Mar Arena in the town of Del Mar near San Diego. Nothing of the sort on the Chargers, except the part on the now outdated chance of the Chargers accept a new home in the Farmers Field stadium project in Downtown L.A.
